Thursday, May 28th, 2009
MEDIA INFORMATION Wednesday 27 May 09
WITH THE CRACK OF A WHIP….AUSSIE OUTBACK BROUGHT TO LIFE IN TROPICS
Australian Muster Experience – Chopper Chase in Verdant Paddocks
of Tropical North Queensland
Stunt riding and an Australian BBQ add to the true-blue flavour of the $10 million tourism venture opening near Port Douglas on Thursday (May 28).
Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Steve Wettenhall and Member for Cook Jason O’Brien will officially open the spectacular show to a select audience of 180 VIPs.
The Australian Muster experience will provide its visitors with an up close and personal view of daily life on a cattle station – enjoying spectacular entertainment from the sidelines as stockmen deftly muster cattle and brave bucking bulls.
Owned and managed by Mossman-based cattleman Gordon Pringle and marketed by Parker Travel Collection, the Australian Muster Experience is staged at a purpose-built facility backing on to the beautiful rainforest of Daintree National Park at Miallo, a short drive north of Port Douglas.
With seating for 400 people, the $10 million tourist venture is also targeting the lucrative business events tourism market with its unique outback dining experience within easy reach of Cairns and Port Douglas.
“An authentic Australian outback experience on a cattle station is a must on many travel itineraries following the interest generated by the movie Australia,” said Mr Pringle, who runs cattle on several nearby properties.
“The Australian Muster Experience allows visitors to experience the excitement of life on a working cattle station while visiting the twin World Heritage areas of the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics rainforest in Tropical North Queensland.”
The Stockman’s Lunch Muster and the Grand Outback Experience for dinner operate Wednesdays to Fridays at the 19th century inspired outback cattle station, uniquely framed by rainforest and with spectacular views to Port Douglas.
The Australian Muster Experience is also part of Port Douglas Carnivale with extreme bull riding and some of the best bucking bulls in the country featuring on the Saturday night program (May 30).
Two people can experience the Australian Muster Experience for the price of one as an opening special until the end of June. For more information go to www.australianmusterexperience.com

Celtic Roots – The Show
Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
MEDIA INFORMATION Tuesday 26 May 09
CELTIC CELEBRATION CULMINATES IN ENCORE PERFORMANCES AND QLD DAY AWARD
Scenes from Saturday’s Celtic Roots Concert at Brothers Leagues
The Celtic heart of Cairns and Port Douglas was well and truly beating over the weekend when the City of Cairns Highland and Irish Dancers and Get Reel band provided toe-tapping, hand-clapping entertainment for all ages.
Celtic Roots – The Show was performed twice over the weekend, on Saturday night to a sell out audience at Brothers Leagues and again on Sunday at The Clink Theatre in Port Douglas as part of Carnivale celebrations. On both nights the accopella of hard-shoe dancing and evocative drum beats, together with loud applause – brought the house down and proclaimed this first time event an outstanding success and one that is destined to become a regular fixture in future years.
A collaboration between Jacqueline Wilson from the City of Cairns Highland and Irish Dancers and Kirk Steele from band, Get Reel, Celtic Roots was a two and a half our show created to celebrate Celtic music, song and dance with first-class entertainment comprising a rhythmic blend of traditional favourites and contemporary styles.
According to the principal of The City of Cairns Highland and Irish Dance Association, Mrs Jacqueline Wilson, the performers, spanning 29 dancers (aged between five and 26 years of age), five musicians, one vocalist, the rousing rendition of the bagpipes and the harp showcased amazing ability and dedication to put on an event so spectacular it rivaled those produced with extensive budgets and marketing dollars.
“I would particularly like to recognize our wonderful group of musicians who lifted the show no end. The entertainment value would not have been the same without their enthusiastic interaction and presentation. Get Reel are looking forward to the next gig with our dancers. I am sure that this class act will continue in many forms and shows in the future,” she said.
As a follow up to this exciting weekend Mrs Wilson has just received a letter from Steve Wettenhall MP advising her that she has been nominated to receive a Barron River Electorate Queensland Day Award as a token for her contribution and dedication to the community and its cultural fabric.
Mrs Wilson will receive her award at a small ceremony amongst peers and dance students on Sunday 31 May at 10.30am at the Holloways Beach Environment Centre, 46 Poinsettia Street, Holloways Beach.

Palm Royale becomes Golden Chain Inn

GOLDEN CHAIN MOTOR INNS GROUP EXPANDS INTO CAIRNS
Palm Royale Cairns has recently become a member of the Golden Chain Motor Inns accommodation group. The Golden Chain network has over 330 properties and over 7,500 rooms throughout Australia, with an expanding network which reaches from Cape Tribulation in Northern Queensland to Perth in Western Australia.
In recent years the group has enjoyed unprecedented growth in numbers and established a reputation for quality facilities and high levels of service.
Spokesperson for the Golden Chain group, General Manager Stephen Drew, attributes their success to the consistently high standards that are maintained across the network. All properties are individually owned and operated and must meet our qualifications in the medium to high quality range
“Patrons appreciate our friendly ‘family’ hospitality and some of the other initiatives which Golden Chain has taken over the years. We introduced, and still are the only group that offers, toll-free person-to-person reservations direct to the front desk of every individual property. And this is backed up by a twenty-four hour service where customers can also phone a central toll-free number and be transferred direct to any property of their choice. We find that this gives us that first important contact with the customer and we can be sure that we understand their exact needs. In this way we can add those little personal touches that help them feel at home whenever they are away from home. As another consideration for our guests’ personal preferences, we were also the first group to introduce the choice of smoke-free rooms at every location.”
“Another way we help guests to plan their trips and get the most out of their stays with us, is to include a list of things to see and do in all of the locations where we have properties. Golden Chain was the first, and probably still the only group, to provide this information in their own Directory.”
As owner/operators of Palm Royale Cairns, Goodearth Hotels and Resorts, describes its property as a 150 room, Mediterranean style boutique resort located within close proximity of Cairns city and airport.
In announcing their decision to join a national marketing group, General Manager of Palm Royale Cairns, Peter Blackburn said he sees great potential for their affiliation with Golden Chain to attract customers in to Cairns from all over Australia.
